History: Constructed in 1935 by the British colonial government, Old Changi Hospital was initially part of a military base designed to support the Royal Engineers and Royal Artillery units stationed in Changi.
During World War II, following the fall of Singapore in 1942, the Japanese Imperial Army repurposed the facility as a prisoner-of-war camp, where it is believed that interrogation and torture of prisoners occurred. After the war, the British resumed control, and the hospital served various military personnel, including those from Australia and New Zealand under the ANZUK coalition in the early 1970s. In 1975, the Singapore Armed Forces took over, renaming it Singapore Armed Forces Hospital.
It was later opened to the public as Changi Hospital before ceasing operations on December 15, 1997, when services were relocated to the newly established Changi General Hospital in Simei.
